Stones Throw Farm's CSA
Welcome to the 2017 Stones Throw Farm CSA Program!
We appreciate your interest in joining our CSA program.
In spite of challenging weather conditions our 2016 CSA season was a great success and we are looking forward to another great season in 2017. We’re confident that the resilience of our farming systems and our years of experience growing in CNY will provide for an excellent 2017 CSA Season.
Our 2017 CSA program is now split into three separate components. Our Regular Season CSA, Late Season CSA and Winter CSA programs. In an effort to improve our operations and planning, and enhance opportunities for our membership, we are now advance-marketing our Late Season CSA. We just completed our 5th Late Season CSA Program and it has been very successful and well received. We are also very excited to now be able to offer a brand new Winter CSA program. We have been gradually making improvements to our winter storage and production capacity and are confident with the results. Members may sign up for any individual CSA program component and/or combination of components.
Specific descriptions of our CSA programs and sign up information are found in the CSA FAQs section of our website. http://stonesthrowfarm.biz/home/?q=node/6
Our CSA has been and continues to be known for providing incredible quality and value and we continue to consider that our mission. We do not offer half-shares but have many members that choose to split their share with friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. Payment details are provided on the following pages.
We grow a diverse mix of crops throughout the season and provide bountiful and well-rounded shares. All produce supplied through our CSA program is grown here on our farm according to the principles and practices set forth by the Northeast Organic Farmers Association–Farmers Pledge program. Items included in your share will be picked, washed when appropriate and sorted for your selection. It is possible for you to be in and out of the farm on pickup days in a very short period of time. However, we also invite you to stretch your legs and take a walk around each week; children are always welcome and we offer child-oriented programs throughout the season that focus on learning about the farm and sustainability in a hands-on way. At many times throughout the season there will be additional items available to CSA members on a “U-pick” basis at no additional charge. Our “U-pick” flowers and raspberries are always popular and we’ve expanded plantings of both for 2017. As in years past, we have a number of CSA “community” events planned this season including on-farm yoga, visiting chefs and cooking demonstrations, producers with samples and farm tours.
In an effort to “simplify” our members’ shopping and ultimately improve access to the many delicious, wholesome and sustainably produced farm goods in Central New York, we are happy to offer, when available, additional items for purchase at CSA pick up, such as dairy products, pasture raised meats, poultry and eggs, honey, maple syrup, and fruits, all produced regionally by friends and neighbors.
If you have any further questions regarding the CSA program, we welcome you to call or write.
Please contact us to reserve your 2017 CSA shares, we ask that you e-mail us as soon as possible. Early enrollments greatly help with planning and early planting. Please indicate your preferred pick-up day, and/or selection of various CSA program components. We will confirm receipt of your e-mail.
We are looking forward to the 2017 season, and wish everyone a great winter and spring.
